Commercial, pragmatic and highly focused coaching

""I first worked with Geraldine shortly after she established The Executive Coaching Company 15 years ago and I have regularly worked with her and various members of her team ever since. Geraldine is an excellent coach and is one of the very best that I know. She understands business and brings that knowledge to the coaching relationship, ensuring that her clients do not lose sight of the need to develop their skills in a way which will improve their contribution to their respective companies. She has a pleasing, direct style and she has never failed to quickly build a strong relationship with every executive that I have sent to her from Sodexo.""

The Executive Coaching Consultancy was the first to launch a Maternity Coaching Programme in the UK in 2005, providing transitional and career development coaching to senior professional women.

Maternity Coaching supports high-achieving women to successfully manage this important transition in the context of their professional lives. Recent research has highlighted the current "brain drain" of female talent from big organisations, as companies lose significant numbers of highly skilled and experienced senior women. The unnecessary loss of key talent has an economic and commercial impact on organisations in the short, medium and long term.

Maternity frequently coincides with a critical point in women's careers, when they are on the partner or senior management track. Recent research has identified that organisations are losing key women who opt out or move to more flexible employers. Legislative changes also mean that women are taking longer maternity leave periods. This increases the challenge of re-entering the organisation.

The Maternity Coaching Programme was designed by highly experienced coaches to support both women and their employers to meet the challenges that this period of transition can create. The Programme consists of 3 or 4 coaching sessions before, during and following maternity leave, facilitating much more effective and permanent transitions back into the workplace. Maternity Coaching works with both the individual and their line manager to facilitate better communication, effective working practices and more motivated people. It provides effective support during a critical period of transition. Based on their experience as coaches and as working mothers and backed up with latest research, this dedicated programme was designed to support both women and their employers to overcome the challenges of the maternity work gap.

The programme was launched in 2005 and ECC lead theMaternity Coaches field in both practice and research-based development, facilitating the first published research project on the effectiveness of maternity coaching to improve the retention of senior professional women. Clients include several major (top 20) city law firms and banks such as Allen & Overy, Herbert Smith and Deutsche Bank.

In the battle to retain high-calibre women, promote true diversity and retain valuable employees, maternity and executive coaching offer the only tried and tested means of making a difference.

Testimonials

"The Executive Coaching Consultancy provides us with a maternity programme for women from all areas of the firm. The coaches help individuals to manage the pressures and responsibilities that can arise during an important period of change which not only affects their career but also their personal life. This is an invaluable service which helps us to retain talent in an increasingly competitive market and to support women working in a high pressure environment."
Caroline Harding - Director of Learning and Development, Herbert Smith LLP

"In particular I would commend my personal experience of being coached around maternity leave - it was invaluable, as most organisations really do not think about supporting this transition.  Working with an executive coach who is also a working mother provides an additional source of very useful advice."
Catie Callender, Managing Director, Crabtree & Evelyn
